SHOW REVIEW: Intervals, The Way Forward Tour
Last night, Aurorae opened for the Tampa stop of Intervals The Way Forward Tour. We had a 25 minute set, and we packed it with all newer tunes. We ended the set with our newest song, not played for anyone before, The Shadowed Self. The crowd's response to our set was amazing, and we couldn't be happier or more humbled. Enough about that.
The tour package included Night Verses, Nick Johnston, Jason Richardson, and of course Intervals. After our set, it was time for Night Verses. This trio is an awesome band to watch. The energy they exude on stage is hard to match. Various times, their drummer/percussionist, Aric Improta, jumped up onto his drum throne and riled up the crowd. How on earth he didn't end up biting it even once is beyond me, but it was certainly entertaining.
Night Verses style of music blends progressive tones with plenty of metal goodness and various aural soundbites to keep you engaged. They're just fun to watch and listen to. Cannot say enough about these guys. Unfortunately, I was too captivated by their performance to have gotten a shot of them.
Nick Johnston took the stage next. A bit more subdued as compared to the rest of the tour package. Nick played his heart out and the audience seemed to eat it up.
Jason Richardson was on after Nick Johnston. He and Luke Holland performed their set of progressive djentary with energy and poise. Certainly a fun duo to watch.
Intervals wrapped up the show, playing for a decent amount of time. I was pretty captivated by these guys as well. They are certainly worth going to see. To end their set, they invited Nick Johnston and Jason Richardson to join them on stage for a good dose of jamming shredery.
At the end of the show, I would definitely say that for me, Night Verses was the real star of the show, though I enjoyed each set tremendously. If you're fortunate enough to be near one of the cities that are left on the tour, GO!
