New Judas Priest, Between The Buried and Me

Judas Priest
When Judas Priest released Lightning Strike, there was certainly great potential for this latest album. Today, the boys in Judas Priest released Firepower. The album starts with the title track, which is certainly a great opener, but it's no Painkiller. Lightning Strike sounds like the classic Priest formula.

Judas Priest - Firepower Album Cover

While Rob Halford's vocals are certainly strong on this latest endeavor, it's lost some of the power and range of yesteryear, though that is to be expected. The guitars are still as screaming as ever. Definitely a shame that Glenn Tipton is battling Parkinson's Disease and his future is uncertain as to how he contributes to Priest in the future.

I will admit, in the Iron Maiden v. Judas Priest war, I am an Iron Maiden fan through and through. Maiden is my all time favorite band. However, that being said, I do like me some JP, and this latest album is full of bangers. Do yourself a favor and put this on and enjoy.

Between The Buried and Me

Between The Buried and Me - Automata I
I am still digesting this one. I have spun it twice today, and like the rest of the discography from this band, it is hit and miss for me. The album opens up with  Condemned to the Gallows, which is a pretty strong start. I am going to dive deeper into this one this weekend and I will update this post once I give it a better listen away from the distractions of the office.
